Dr. Hughes currently serves as Editor of Education for theJournal of Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapy (JOSPT) and Editor-in-Chief of JOSPT Cases. Professionally he has held leadership roles in physical therapy at regional and national levels for the last 30 years. He served as Editor of the publicationOrthopaedic Physical Therapy Practicefrom 2005 – 2019 and also as editor ofIndependent Study Coursesfrom 2007-2020 for the Academy Of Orthopaedic Physical Therapy, APTA.Dr. Hughes, has been an awarded faculty member in the School of Physical Therapy, Slippery Rock University since 1990. Dr. Hughes’ research and graduate teaching has been in the area of skeletal biomechanics, orthopaedics and motion analysis. He received his physical therapy degree (MPT) from Slippery Rock University in 1992. He is a graduate of University of Virginia, PhD (Sports Medicine) 1990 and Springfield College, BS (Exercise Science, 1983), MS. (Biomechanics 1986).He has been a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) since 1986. He received his advanced board certification in orthopaedics (OCS) in 2001.His clinical practice interests include shoulder and spine rehabilitation and gait analysis.
